How a country can upgrade the welfare of its population through digital transformation

Luis Alfonso Gómez, professor at the Business Law Department of ‘Universidad Externado de Colombia’, discussed the application of digital instruments (including AI) with three prestigious authorities in the field: Doctor Tanel Kerikmäe, director of TalTech Law School; Doctor Orión Vargas Vélez, expert in the application of AI in the administration of justice and Doctor María Claudia Solarte-Vásquez, expert in smart sourcing and proactive governance of digital exchange.


This podcast took us to the other side of the Atlantic to learn about the history of Estonia, a country which aimed to have one of the highest standards worldwide in digital transformation. From the beginning of digitalization in the European country by the early 00’s as an attempt to reduce costs, to the ever-growing transformation of public and private operations in the era of AI, the discussion focused on the regulation of this processes, how extensive should they be and if it’s even desirable to regulate them.


One key aspect of the approach towards new technologies is trust in the government that enables everyone’s data to be accessible to everyone, and in the very product that is being implemented in both civilian and state activities. The experts reviewed aspects that need to be accounted for, such as data governance and cooperation between human and artificial intelligence, while anticipating a future of AI in developing transhumanism and AI created to control AI.
